Metal-free Crowns, Inlays, Bridges Look Great, Help Save Teeth!

New systems of bonding materials and techniques combined with fiberglas-like reinforcing fibers now make it possible to make and place totally metal-free crowns, bridges and beautiful inlays. These new techniques offer significant improvements in strength and beauty.

These Empress® Inlays and Targis-Vectris™ bridges look GREAT and overcome many of the objections previously voiced about conventional crown placement. By combining these new systems with Empress® metal-free full veneer crowns and we are able to provide totally metal-free restorations which are bonded instead of being cemented and have the look and feel of real teeth !

Porcelain Inlays Strengthen Teeth!

The new Empress® Inlays offer a wonderful alternative to full crown placement in many cases. The older silver amalgam (mercury-based) fillings did nothing to strengthen teeth and, in fact, are a frequent factor in causing back teeth to crack with the resulting need for crown placement. These new hybrid inlays offer increased strength and fracture resistance to compromised teeth and they are BEAUTIFUL!

We are offering the same 5 year written guarantee for these new procedures that we have offered for our porcelain fused to precious metal crowns and bridges in past years.

To find out if you could benefit from these new procedures, give us a call or ask for more information the next time you are in the office.

Laser Fillings?

The FDA recently announced the approval of lasers for painless "drilling" of cavities. This caught us all by surprise since no notification was given to dentists prior to the announcement.

In fact, the American Dental Association has not yet approved use of the laser for a number of reasons. It's usage is quite limited, primarily for very small NEW cavities in ADULT teeth (we see very few of these). It cannot be used for removal of old fillings, for deeper cavities, crowns, root canals or any cavities in baby teeth.

Researchers at the ADA say that the laser may be approved for limited usage in another three to five years.

We are ALWAYS looking for better and more comfortable ways to provide dental care and will keep you informed of the latest as it comes along.
